THE TWO SOUND SCULPTURES OF "TRÍO TRUNA (TX3)" & THE BALLON-GUITAR By Dr.Truna

EL TORO CÓSMICO—THE CÓSMIC BULL (from 1995 on) El Toro Cósmico is a sound sculpture and invented musical instrument which can sound on its own, be affected by movement and sounds in the environment, as well as be maneuvered with its built-in controls. It runs on lead batteries which makes it independent to play and be exhibited in public spaces. The sound originates from a closed circuit, formed by various amplifiers, preamps, and effect pedals interveened and connected in series. It is based on a mix between direct contact with the metal parts of the sculpture, and the microphone which produces random continous sounds. Materials: Recycled electronic spare parts, plastics, magnets and metal.

EL ATRÍL DEL FUTURO—MUSIC STAND FROM THE FUTURE (from 1998 on)

El Atríl del Futuro is both a sound sculpture and an invented musical instrument. It can sound on its own without any human intervention. At the same time, when touched by both palms of the hands, the sound changes. The human body becomes part of the instrument by acting as a resistor. It runs on lead batteries which makes it independent for being played and exhibited in public spaces.

The sound originates from a closed circuit, formed by a copper conductive wire which is extended on the surface of the stand and serves as part of the amplifier. It also has a small speaker and a small fm radio transmitter from different radio stations, creating an orchestra of sounds from the different signals.

Materials: Recycled electronic spare parts, plastics, glass, metal, springs and copper.
